How it started
Abra Diocesan Teachers and Employees Multi-purpose Cooperative (ADTEMPCO) has a mission of “providing excellent financial products and allied services to its members through socially responsive and environment friendly business ventures and shares the blessings to the community.”
Through this, ADTEMPCO conceptualized a training center as one of the added services of the Cooperative. This training center was created because of the necessity of producing skilled workers in agriculture and livestock industry. There is also demand for training qualifications especially in Abra where farming is the primary source of income of the Abrenios.
Through Board Resolution No. 10-04 series of 2016, Mt. Carmel Agri-tourism and Training Center, Inc. (MCATCI) was created. Its principal address is located at Sittio Surcoc, Brgy. Dumayco, Penarrubia, Abra. It was registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and was given accreditation by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
It officially started in December 10, 2016 with 100 scholarship slots from TESDA. On June 15, 2017, ADTEMPCO formally take over the management of Galicia Farm / SODEC “The Center of Organic Farming” from the Roman Catholic Bishop of Bangued, located at Sittio Galicia, Barangay Monggoc, Pidigan, Abra and renamed as Mt. Carmel Agri-Tourism and Training Center, Inc. off campus facilities.
Mt.Carmel Agri-Tourism and Training Center, Inc. offers the following qualifications under the Agri-Fishery sector: Agricultural Crops Production NCII, Agricultural Crops Production NCIII and Animal Production (Swine) NCII. In Assessment Center: Agricultural Crops Production NCII & NCIII, Animal Production (Swine) NCII, Animal Production (Poultry-Chicken) NCII and Organic Agricultural Production NCII.
